The Lima, Ohio, community is mourning the tragic loss of Joseph Foust IV, who died at the age of 33 following a motorcycle crash in American Township, Allen County. His sudden passing has left family members, friends, and loved ones grieving as they remember a life cut short far too soon.
According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the fatal collision occurred at approximately 5:39 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, on North West Street near the entrance to the Allen-Oakwood Correctional Institution in American Township. Investigators said Joseph Foust IV was riding a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle when a southbound Cadillac CTS attempted to turn into the correctional institution and failed to yield, striking the motorcycle.
Emergency responders from the Lima Police Department, Lima Fire Department, American Township Fire Department, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol arrived quickly at the scene. Foust sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Health – St. Rita’s Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries. The driver of the Cadillac, a 55-year-old woman from Elida, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was also transported to the hospital for treatment.
