WAYNE COUNTY, Ind. — Authorities have identified Shanae Robinson, a 36-year-old Indianapolis woman, as the victim in a homicide investigation that began after her body was discovered inside a crashed semi-truck near the Indiana-Ohio border. Investigators have determined that Robinson’s death was not the result of the traffic crash, but instead involved foul play, prompting a multi-agency investigation spanning Indiana and Ohio.
According to the Wayne County Coroner’s Office, Robinson’s body was found Wednesday night after emergency crews responded to a crash involving a semi-truck on the ramp connecting U.S. 40 to westbound Interstate 70, near New Paris, just west of the Ohio state line. Although the collision initially appeared to be a traffic incident, investigators later concluded that Robinson had died before the crash occurred.
Coroner Brent Meadows confirmed that the 36-year-old’s death is being investigated as a homicide. Authorities believe Robinson was killed in or near the Petro Travel Center in New Paris, where investigators have concentrated much of their attention as they work to reconstruct the events leading up to her death.
A suspect, Ladavid Shaw, has been arrested in neighboring Preble County, Ohio, and is facing a murder charge in connection with Robinson’s death. According to investigators, Shaw was located at the Petro Travel Center hours after Robinson’s body was discovered inside the wrecked semi. Authorities have not publicly disclosed the nature of the relationship between Shaw and Robinson or released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the fatal incident.
Officials have also not revealed how Robinson was killed, indicating that forensic examinations and investigative efforts remain ongoing. Detectives from multiple law enforcement agencies continue to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and coordinate across state lines as they seek to establish a complete timeline of the events surrounding the homicide.
In a statement, Coroner Brent Meadows described the case as a heartbreaking tragedy while extending condolences to Robinson’s loved ones.
“This is a deeply tragic case, and our thoughts are with the loved ones of the decedent during this difficult time,” Meadows said. “Our office is committed to conducting a thorough and professional investigation alongside our law enforcement partners.”
News of Robinson’s death has deeply affected her family and friends in Indianapolis and beyond. As investigators continue to pursue answers, those who knew her are mourning the loss of a woman whose life ended under tragic and violent circumstances.
The homicide investigation remains active, and authorities have indicated that additional information, including details regarding Robinson’s cause of death and the ongoing criminal proceedings, will be released as the investigation progresses.
