Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a 19-year-old Scranton resident in Archbald, Lackawanna County, over the weekend. The case remains active as detectives work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deadly incident, which has left the local community searching for answers.
According to the Lackawanna County Coroner’s Office, the victim has been identified as Tyvon Ash, 19, of Scranton. Authorities said Ash suffered a single gunshot wound to the chest during an incident in Archbald early Sunday morning. He was transported to Geisinger Community Medical Center, where he later died in the emergency department despite lifesaving efforts by medical personnel.
Pennsylvania State Police, in conjunction with local law enforcement, are leading the investigation into the shooting. Officials have not disclosed what led to the incident, where exactly the shooting occurred, whether anyone has been taken into custody, or if any suspects have been identified. They remembered him as a “gentle giant” with a bright future whose unexpected death has devastated those who knew him.
