The blaze left several families displaced as investigators began working to determine its cause.
According to Ottawa Fire Services, crews were dispatched shortly before 1:00 a.m. to the 1000 block of Parnian Private following reports of a fire at a townhouse. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered flames and thick black smoke coming from the second floor of one of the homes, where a porch fire had spread rapidly to the structure.
